Project: Information visualization on Bottled water

Theme: data acquisition, manipulation from a design point of view

Concept and implementation by: Thomas Hoheisel, Nanda Días, Marcel Vesga

Background:

The idea of selling and privatising a product, which should be accessible for all like air, lies in the capitalist nature of Bottled Water. It is sold with colorful images and provocative slogans like “It will make you healthier”, “It tastes better”, and despite how it is being marketed, we can all make a better choice. Think outside the bottle!

Objectives:

• In this master course at HfK Bremen, we were concerned with the practice of data and information visualization: from data acquisition and manipulation over visual encoding to interaction patterns.

From a design point of view, we examined especially
the cultural role of measuring and “picturing” the world:
How do we create world views from data—
and what is the designer’s role in this context?

Designed with:

• Adobe Illustrator

• Adobe Photoshop

• Excel

• Google Refine

• Processing

• Sublime text 2

• Tableau
